Medical defense

Battelle-Japan's network includes world-class expertise in chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense, bringing unique skills to the challenges of preparing military and civilian medical institutions to deal with Weapons of Mass Destruction, potential terrorist attacks, medical countermeasures, and natural biological threats to the nation. We focus on basic scientific research and applied development in innovative biological methods and techniques to address the toughest challenges in biosciences, including the environment, agriculture, food safety, and health and disease prevention. Disciplinary breadth includes microbiology, biochemistry, immunology, molecular biology and cell biology supported by extensive laboratories in a state-of-the-art research facilities.

Public health and epidemiology

Battelle-Japan assists government agencies and institution in promoting health and preventing disease in health research and data collection, including health services research and program evaluation; survey methodology and data collection operations; health status and risk factor monitoring; environmental health risk assessments; behavioral health risk assessments; and toxicology research.

Homeland emergency preparedness

With broad biotechnological and health sciences capabilities, Battelle-Japan can address the complex issues associated with homeland security medical issues.
